Dr. Ann Simun
Dr. Ann Simun has been working professionally with children with learning and behavioral
challenges since 1989. She is a licensed psychologist (PSY20113), with a specialization in
neuropsychology. She also is a credentialed and experienced School Psychologist, making her
eligible to conduct IEEs for school district disputes. She was also licensed as an Educational
Psychologist. She is listed with the National Register of Healthcare Providers in Psychology, and is a
member of American Psychological Association, National Academy of Neuropsychology, International
Neuropsychological Society, and the Association for Psychological Science.

Dr. Simun specializes in complex diagnostic cases, specifically differential diagnosis of learning
disorder, developmental disorders (including Autism Spectrum), attentional difficulties, brain injury,
gifted underachievers, and medically-based learning challenges.  She is especially effective in cases
involving IEPs and public schools due to her extensive experience working in the public schools.  She
works closely with parents, schools, and attorneys/advocates to help create appropriate, effective and
individualized programs for children with special needs.  She uses a science-based approach to
examining the basis of the youngster's learning challenges, and programmatic needs.  Her IEE
reports have been accepted, and her work requested by, many of the school districts in Los Angeles
County.  She attends IEP, DPH, and mediation hearings as requested, and assists the IEP team in
interpreting the findings of the report, and with applying the findings to the creation of the IEP/IPP/ITP.

Dr. Simun completed her PsyD at Pepperdine University, and completed her residency in clinical
psychology at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio with an emphasis on Neuropsychology. She
completed postdoctoral training in forensic psychology.  She completed a 2-year postdoctoral training
program in Neuropsychology at Harbor UCLA supervised by nationally recognized
neuropsychologists Drs. Kyle Boone and Marcel Ponton.  

Dr. Simun has worked as a school psychologist for over 10 years. She was employed by the State of
California Board of Consumer Affairs as a subject matter expert in the area of educational
psychology, and was involved in the rewriting of the California Licensed Educational Psychologist
examination. She has been named as an independent expert in psychological assessment in
multiple states and jurisdictions. She teaches graduate-level courses in psychometrics (testing),
research methods, statistics, and ethics at universities in Southern California. She has given
presentations at national conferences on assessment of children and other topics.
